THE VOICE OF COMPROMISE

The Shift is a film about an ordinary man who comes face-to-face with Satan and is given a choice... take a job that will bring him untold wealth and power or be hounded by the Devil for the rest of his life.

This film had me thinking about a variety of things. One thing that came to mind was the word "compromise." How many times have we allowed Satan to consistently whisper things into our minds that force us to compromise throughout our lives?

"Look at this man/woman, he/she loves you so much, so what that he/she doesn't believe, you can bring him/her to God after you have married."

"You should take advantage of this fantastic career opportunity, it may not come along again. You may spend less time with your family, but at the very least, they will be financially secure."

"Have lunch with female/male co-worker alone. I understand you're married, and your wife/husband MIGHT disagree, but it's completely harmless."

The scenarios are endless and generally seem all too innocent to take notice of…

We may have compromised on several things that we didn't realize we were doing until it was too late, and it ended up costing us so much. At times it has led to broken relationships, addictions, shame and so much more.

The word of God says, "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8)

Devour means to destroy... fully.

Seek the Holy Spirit, and He will direct your path. Not everything that sounds or looks good is from God. Satan enjoys implanting concepts in our thoughts that appear to be wonderful but ultimately lead to our destruction.

"Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make." (Proverbs 3:5)

"What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?" (Matthew 16:26)

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27)

The more we spend time with Him and in His word, we will begin to recognize the voice of compromise.
