Let me preface this and say that there is absolutely no intention of a hidden political agenda cloaked within this blog. Against the Tide Media will always focus upon Spiritual Truths displayed in faith-based entertainment… there is a time and place for political policy to be examined and scrutinized, but not here… not now… nor does ATTM ever intend on doing so in the future.
With that being said…
Seeing the demoniac in Episode 5 reminded me of the MASK that some wear which is far more stifling than any worn/still being worn during this Pandemic. First & foremost, let’s lift up prayer, especially for India and other areas currently being ravaged by Covid-19.
The mask I’m exposing is the one I used to wear, and I wore it well… although it did not do well for me. So many experience life bound in shame and condemnation. Some people put on this mask so that no one can truly see what they are feeling inside. Now they may not look like the demoniac in The Chosen, but they are still bound.
The mask they wear covers the deep-rooted hurts and pains that no one knows. They become so used to wearing the mask that they cannot even imagine taking it off, yet they feel imprisoned by it. We all wear masks to some degree at some point in our lives. If people only knew what you have done, your addictions, what someone else did to you, how you view yourself, the shame you carry, the condemnation you feel, etc., the gnawing feeling deep within you that no one will ever love and accept you… if they could only see under the mask.
The list goes on & on... however, Satan's trick is to command your attention & gain your allegiance by assailing us with thoughts which subtly pervert the truth... simply so we will BUY the LIE... "If only people knew that it was YOUR fault that you were abused, cause you're trash, why would anyone love you? If only people knew what you viewed secretly on your phone, you're a hypocrite, you can never be free."
"If only people knew..."
Isolation is the Enemy’s smoke & mirrors, so the LIES take on a life of their own. They consume our thoughts to the point that we believe them, so we wear our masks and walk around in life ironically trying to smile underneath them but still bound.
I used to walk around with a mask that would hide the abuse that I received from a significant other. To everyone else, at times, I was happy, making jokes, and outgoing. No one knew that my mask would come off when I was alone, nor did they know that I would cry secretly soaked with shame. However, this is how Satan kept me bound, trapped, lonely, and hopeless. Until one day, I was reminded that the Word of God says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1)
I am one of THOSE. I am a daughter of the King. Understand, God sees what's behind my mask... whether I take it off or not, he knows me better than I know myself. Therefore, I can be free before my Father. When I lay my mask before the feet of Jesus, when I say, "Here I am Lord," fully surrendered, he can then start to heal all the broken places in my life.
It's so hard! I know… during the times of abuse, I pleaded for God to end my life, that I couldn't go another day. Yet, He reached down and touched me, reminding me that He was still there and always had been. The enemy tried to use that to destroy me, but God preserved me. He is still working in me, but that mask, I no longer wear.
God wants to do the same in your life. As of mid-March 2020… the entire world has worn masks out of reverence and compassion hopefully providing protection for the vulnerable during a global threat of epic proportions. But that’s a PHYSICAL mask... don’t confuse it with a SPIRITUAL mask which does nothing but harm your soul.
He wants to take away your shame and replace it with His joy... all you need to do, is take off your mask.
“Our lives are in his hands, and he keeps our feet from stumbling.” (Psalms 66:9)
“When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her and said to her, "Do not weep." (Luke 7:13)
"For the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45)
"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
