THE MOTHER EAGLE

Writer: Rachel RodriguezRachel Rodriguez

For the past 3 years, one of my favorite mothers day traditions is that my children and I watch "Mom's Night Out", the Saturday before. As we snuggle on the couch with our popcorn and candy, we laugh and then cry, and then laugh some more.

This is one of my favorite movies because every Mother can relate to it in some way. If you haven't seen the movie yet, please do not read any further nor watch the clip below for it contains spoilers.

Please watch the clip below

Every single one of us moms has felt like Allyson at some point in her life. I know I have! Even this year, I found myself having my failures and shortcomings on repeat. At times, I find myself at the end of my day going over what I could have done, and what I should have said differently.

As mothers, we are constantly comparing ourselves to others on social media. They appear to have perfect lives. Their homes, children, husbands, and even their dogs appear to be perfect. LOL! But seriously, don't we all do that at some point?

Most of us have felt like we have failed our children in some way at some point in their lives. But our children see things differently. Is there a memory from when you were a child that you have fondly recalled of your mother? In our conversations on memory, my Mother believes she failed as a mother, but from my perspective, it was a wonderful experience. We truly can be very hard on ourselves.

It is for a reason that God entrusted us with these incredible individuals known as our children. He did not make a mistake giving your children you as their mother. You are doing more right than you are doing wrong. Yesterday might have been a bad day, but today is a new day. Walk confidently knowing that you do not have to face Motherhood alone. Take comfort in knowing that your Heavenly Father is with you every step of the way. He has equipped you with everything that you need. Just continue to point them to Jesus.

"I doubt that the good Lord made a mistake giving your kiddos the mommy that he did. So you just be you, he'll take care of the rest".

Proverbs 31:25-30 - Strength and honor are her clothing, and she shall rejoice in time to come.

Proverbs 31:26-27 - She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

Psalms 127:3 - Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
